BE RIGHT project consortium intends to develop a tailor made training course in human rights applied to care settings, aimed in particular at professionals of health and social services that have persons suffering from mental illness among their patients and clients.
The contents and methodology of the training course will assure that the professionals who undertake it will learn which of the angular rights of their patients are susceptible to be abused in the context of social and health services provision. They will be sensitized in their own attitudes towards mental illness, by getting an understanding of the impact that these attitudes may have on the intervention process and inducing reflection on their experience. The training course will be designed to be highly practical, interactive, compelling and driving to action. It will be delivered- in the framework of a pilot test conducted in 5 partner organizations- to a total of 75 professionals and will be accessible to general public through the Be Right e-learning platform, available in 6 EU languages.
BE RIGHT project seeks to give voice to individuals with personal experience of mental illness to speak about how they want to be treated. This will be achieved by directly involving individuals with mental condition in the development of the training materials and the delivery of the training (co-production). In order to provide a comprehensive tool for persons with mental illness to learn about their rights and empower them to stand for their rights an educational board game in human rights for service users will be created.
Thanks to the involvement of different actors- specialists in human rights, social service and health service professionals working directly with persons with mental illness, and the users themselves-, the resulting products will have a special value, built on variety of experiences, insights and expertize.
